From romain at peerfuse.org Tue Sep 23 23:16:45 2008 From: romain at peerfuse.org (Romain Bignon) Date: Tue, 23 Sep 2008 23:16:45 +0200 Subject: [Peerfuse] Some news Message-ID: <20080923211645.GD4546@peerfuse.org> Hello, As you may know, we wanted to use the Chimera DHT on Peerfuse to improve performances. The job was really colloquial, but it is now (I think) finished. There is now a lib/dht/ which works with lib/net and lib/util. A small program in dhttest/ can create a little chimera network where you can send a message to a specified key. Now, there is some work to port the peerfuse code to the new DHT API. First, after a discussion with Mathieu, we think it can be a good idea to remove peerfuse-lan from the project. In fact, the differences between peerfuse-lan and peerfuse-net are reduced as two use the DHT, and will have probably the same protocol. We think it can be a better idea to only work on peerfuse-net for now, and do a plug-in (when it will be a plug-in system :p) with the peerfuse-lan properties. Now, the work isn't finished. I think it will take one or two weeks to have a peerfuse usable without bugs (I hope!), and there will be a 0.1 release. Don't forget that you can contribute :) The borring part is finished, now we can have fun!
